Regulations before Entering France

  • No additional tests are required for travelers who have been vaccinated according to European regulations. It is sufficient to show proof of a complete vaccination program in order to enter France.
  • Unvaccinated travelers still have to submit a negative test in order to travel to France. However, they are exempted from the arrival requirements (test, isolation) if they arrive from countries on the green list. This list is characterized by moderate virus circulation.
  • Unvaccinated travelers who arrive from countries not on the “orange list” must present compelling reasons for their decision to travel to France. They may also be subject to random testing upon arrival. Travelers who are positive for the disease will be required to segregate themselves according to their Health Insurance.

The “emergency brake,” which activates when a variant is likely to increase transmissibility or escape immune, will be activated. The country will then be added to the “red” listing. This implies, as it is today, that the traveler must present a compelling reason to travel, submit a negative test before departure, and undergo a quarantined test upon arrival. This classification will be temporary and reviewed periodically to ensure that the travel restrictions are proportional. No country is currently on the “red” list. These border rules could be modified in light of changes in the health situation and by current work with European partners. However, due to the current health status of the Overseas Territories, the access procedures for health control remain unchanged.

Countries in the Green Zone:

The green list is made up of countries and territories that have low or moderate viral circulation in the absence of an emerging variant of concern:

  • Andora
  • Iceland
  • Monaco
  • Canada
  • Brazil
  • Switzerland
  • The Vatican
  • Argentina
  • Japan
  • Egypt
  • Greenland
  • Ecuador
  • The United States
  • The United Kingdom
  • Ukraine
  • Mexico
  • Jordan
  • Madagascar and Others

As the global epidemic situation changes in these countries and territories, the list of green zones may be updated. To continue to be recognized as complete on their vaccination schedule, anyone aged 18 or older who wishes to enter France must have received a booster dose no later than nine months after the last dose.

Countries in the Orange Zone:

The “orange” lists countries and territories that have active virus circulation without a new variant or are immune to it.
These countries include all countries that are not listed as “green.”

  • Russia
  • Australia
  • China
  • Yemen
  • Armenia
  • Iran and others

The traveler’s current vaccination status will determine the applicable rules.
According to the evolution of global epidemic status, the list of countries on the orange list may be modified by the Minister of Health.

Important Regulations

  • European regulations no longer require that vaccinated travelers be tested before leaving. As before the Omicron variant, proof of vaccination suffices once more to allow entry into France.
  • Travellers who have not been vaccinated must submit a negative test result to enter France. However, the restrictions upon arrival (test, isolation, etc.) are lifted for those arriving from countries where the virus is less prevalent.
  • Unvaccinated travelers arriving from countries on the “orange list” must present compelling reasons to travel to metropolitan France. They may still need to undergo random testing upon arrival. Travelers who are positive for a vaccine must be self-isolated according to the recommendations of the public insurance authority.

Travellers should use the TousAntiCovid app to stay in France. They should also be careful and respectful of physical distancing and protective measures.
If you’ve traveled through a third country on your return trip from France but have not stayed in the international airport zone, then the rules of the departure country will apply.
